Satte 14 Jahre sind seit der Erstveröffentlichung des Originalsongs vergangen. Irgendwie ein komisches Gefühl. Damals war der auch noch schwer aktuell für einen selber. Gerade aus der Schule raus, das erste Mal richtig arbeiten und Geld verdienen im Zivildienst, am Horizont der Studienbeginn als etwas schwer diffuses und dazwischen ein wunderbares hin und her mit Freundin und “Freundin”. Darüber könnte ich mal tatsächlich ein Buch schreiben. Doch für heute genügt das Video zum genialen Remix der Brot. Und der Kauf der beiden Live-Alben “Fettes” und “Brot” ist ja sowieso Pflicht.

Als die Titelmusik von diesem Anime heute durch das Büro schallte, war die Freude groß. Ausrufe wie “Mensch, die geile April war meine erste Liebe!” und “Saber Rider war mit seinem Elektropferd schon ein richtiger Kerl!” flogen durch den Raum und es konnte sich gegenseitig gar nicht oft genug versichert werden, wie sehr man/frau die Serie als Kind geliebt hat. Obwohl es damals auch eine meiner liebsten Zeichentrickserien war, weiß ich heute nicht mehr so genau, um was es ging. Hängengeblieben sind mir aber die lässigen Sprüche, das ultracoole Intro mit dem Powerrockfetzer und irgendwas mit einem Raumschiff, das eigentlich ein Riesenkampfroboter war. Zur Retrofeier des Tages also das deutsche “Saber Rider”-Intro:

Mr. Brightside is in meinen Augen ein “Instant Classic”. Vor allem in der Jacques Lucont’s Thin White Duke Remix-Version, die im Soundtrack zum Film “Keinohrhasen” verwendet wurde. Aber auch das Original-Musikvideo ist zu Recht hochdekoriert. Nach den Lyrics findet ihr noch den Jacques Lucont’s Thin White Duke Remix.
